It is astonishing how little some law offices have changed in the last 100 years. The big desk with a client chair to facilitate the signing of important documents. The assistant nearby at her "secretary" desk ready to transcribe the lawyer's handwritten notes or take shorthand dictation. The glassed in bookcase with leather-bound law reports and learned treatises on every area of law. 

Even without a laptop, mobile phone,  photocopier, or fax machine, many 21st-century lawyers would feel quite at home in the 1920s law office of Horace Brown.
